GM/Engineer

Shawn Provencher

Shawn’s love for radio began as a kid, sneaking a radio into his room and falling asleep to the voices of overnight DJs. That early spark grew into a lifelong passion for both audio engineering and music.

While studying IT and DJing at Salem State University's 91.7 WMWM, Shawn saw a need and stepped up as a student technician. During his tenure, he oversaw major upgrades to the station’s console and automation systems, established a production studio, developed a remote broadcast system, and maintained the station’s equipment — all while working within the tight budget of a community radio station.

In 2022, Shawn founded North of Boston Radio, creating a space where community DJs and local music could thrive. His vision continues to drive the station’s mission: bring great local music and a local connection to the people.
